The Month of July

So a few weeks ago I lost the cord to connect my phone to my computer so that I could download pictures and be able to blog. Well finally today I got a new cord and I now have a lot of catching up to do. So here it goes. It's really sporadic, but you'll get the point:
July seems to have flown by. Lots going on, but not too much excitement. It's been mostly the same old, same old. Tyce wakes up everyday at 6:00 to move pipe and is gone the rest of the day. The boys get picked up around 8:30 to go to which ever house they are going to that day and I am still laying in bed. It's all good though. Little miss is 29 weeks along and still doing well in my tummy, so all this time of my family being apart is going to be worth it.

Grandpa's Birthday
To start where I left off, we go back to July 13th. It is one of my favorite days of the because it is my Daddy's birthday. It is such a great excuse to celebrate. He turned 63 this year.
The kids sure love to watch grandpa blow out his candles. I've never in my whole life seen my Dad not blow out every single flickering light in one breath. He has some amazing lungs!

Finding the Moth
The next morning the boys woke up and were so excited to find a "sloth" (moth)
They thought he was the coolest thing, but neither one wanted to catch with their own hands. So what do you use? One of Mom's glass lids of course.

They were pretty cute watching, talking and playing with it.

Shopping trip
One day I got brave and went with my Mom to Shelley, Id to go to "The Ribbon Retreat" store. We needed to pick out some fabric and such so my Mom could get working on little Miss's bedroom set. Lets just say it was quite the adventure. That store is so full of so many fun fabric's and ribbons that make making a choice a very difficult thing. What made matters even worse was we had to take the boys with us. Fabric stores are NOT made for little boys. I quickly learned that my body could not handle being up so long, let alone keeping up with my two crazy boys. After one shelf of fabric was dumped, the toys in the play area were spread everywhere, Trayvn was running in circles knowing I couldn't catch him and Rhev accidentally wetting his pants because there was no bathroom, I finally gave up and the boys and I went and sat in the car until my Mom was finished getting the fabric cut and paid for.  After quite a while of waiting, I decided to leave the boys in the car and go check on my Mom. The car was running, AC blowing, Trayvn was buckled in his seat and Rhev was buckled in a seat belt. I was in the store for no more then 1 minute I could hear Rhev outside screaming. When I got to the car, Rhev had rolled his window down and was crying. I opened his door and was shocked at what I saw. In 1 minute the boy had managed to do a flip, wrap and a tug and got his seat belt knotted around his belly so tight that his legs were already starting to turn blue. I tried and tried to loosen the belt, but it had a safely lock on it so the more I tried to help, the tighter it got. Finally I turned, ran into the store, borrowed a pair of scissors and ran back out to cut the seat belt. Thankfully we were at a fabric store and scissors were close. That little boy scared me so bad that day. As scared as I was, I know for a fact Rhev was more scared. Since that day he has sat so well in a seat belt. No more flipping and twisting for him.
So after that day I have not even dared tried to do anything adventurous like that. I will keep my little hinney in bed!
One good thing from the trip was all the new fun ribbon I got :)

Time with Corinne
Two Wednesdays in July my cousin Corinne came over to keep me company. I just love having visitors and especially having her. She came twice and spent the whole time doing crafties with me. This is my favorite crafty of all! She made me the CUTEST wipes container for out little Miss. I just love it!
I even matched Little Miss's diaper bag :)

Riding to Grandma's
One Sunday the boys asked Tyce if they could go for a ride on the 4-wheeler to Candy Grandma's house. It had been quite a while since we had done a ride like that. The boys love riding with their Dad. Tyce has been teaching Rhev how to steer and do the gas on the 4-wheeler and I have to admit, he's pretty good. He's only 4 and drives pretty dang good.

I love the "wind blown hair" look!

And of course since Rhev gets to drive, Trayvn thinks that he should get to too.

Snuggle Time
As I've mentioned before, some of the greatest moments of being a mom are being able to snuggle my boys. There's been a few days the last few months were Rhev will call and say "Mom I miss you, I just wanna come home and be with you." So if we can make it work, he comes home and is my movie buddy. He will just come in a lay with me and we watch whatever he wants on Amazon. There is no such thing in this world better then cuddle time and a movie with your children. I hope it can still be something special we can share even as he grows up.

Trayvn cuddle time is also alot of fun. His idea of laying with Mom is alot more wiggly then Rhev's, but he sure does make me smile!

One day a few weeks ago I was able to hold my boy until he fell asleep in my arms. Even as a baby, Trayvn did not like to sleep in  any one's arms, so the fact that he fell asleep in my arms that day was a pretty big deal. I LOVE holding sleeping babies!

Cousin Time
This month has also had alot of quality cousin time. Some sleep overs were even thrown in the mix. You would think with all the time cousins have had together they would be sick of each other, but on the contrary, they just keep begging for more time together.

This is a cute picture Kim sent me on a day they went to the park.

One night I was able to go over to my sister Kim's house and watch the boys have a sandcastle building contest for family home evening. It was quite the adventure. They broke up into 3 teams- Erik and Brock, Luke and Grandma, Kim and all the little boys. :)

Dillon was in charge of the hose.

Aunt Kimmy was really patient and the boys really did have fun packing all the dirt in the cups tight so Aunt Kimmy could dump them.

Rhev was pretty proud of their "Super tall tower"

Ryker doing his happy dance.

The little boys finished their sandcastles first and so they had a little down time to wait for the other two teams to finish. Rhev decided to use that down time to give Duncan a ride on the swing. I just love these pictures. Their faces say it all. Both boys were having such a great time.

This is Grandma and Luke's Sandcastle complete with mote and bridge.
Here is Brock and Erik's.

Once all the castle building was finished, Trayvn decided to start the castle wrecking. With a couple swift stomps, operation make mud pies had begun.

It turned out to be the funnest muddy mess they have ever had.

Once the mud stomping was over, Uncle Dillon saved the day with a nice cold shower with the hose. None of the boys were even bothered by how cold the water was they just loved the shower.

Once the mud was rinsed off, they all headed into the house for an assembly lined group bath and snuggled up into pajamas ready for a cousin sleep-over.

Ride at Luke Grandma's
A new thing that the boys like to do at Luke Grandma's is to be pulled around on a sled behind the 4-wheeler. But sitting in the bottom of that sled posed a problem for my inventive little 4 year old because every time Grandma would go over a bump, it would hurt his bum. So he found a chair to sit on instead. It was pretty funny to pull up and see him waving that stick around, sitting in that chair like he was the king of the world.. He's such a turkey!

Feeling Loved
One morning I woke up and was feeling a little down on myself. I was missing my boys, wishing I had someone to talk to and just wanting a little happiness. Well my sweet, intuitive husband must have known it was one of those days and sweetly brought me some flowers. He saw them growing in one of his fields, so he stopped to pick them for me.

My Birthday
We also celebrated my birthday on July 30th. I turned the big 2 7 this year. I love celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and holidays with my husband. He is always so creative in showing me just how much he loves me. This year he wrote a message on a bunch of different pieces of paper and hid the around the house for me to find for getting I was on bed rest and might not be up to the task. Thankfully my Mom came to do "cleaning day" on my birthday, so she helped me find all the pieces. The only problem was figuring out the order all the letter went in. We spent alot of the afternoon trying to figure it out, but finally had to give up and wait for him to come home and help out.
"Happy Birthday. Us Boys Love U"

Being on bed rest, I really didn't have any great expectations for my birthday. My boys were at Kim's house, Tyce was at work and luckily my mom was there with me cleaning the house. Then at lunch time I was surprised with  my boys, Kim and her kids, Erik and his girls, Mexican food and cake. It was awesome. It was so fun having people come over to visit. It made me feel so special. Kim even took Rhev to the store to pick me out a present. Before they went in he told her he wanted to get me a Temple necklace. Considering she was going to Wal-Mart, she wasn't very optimistic about finding a temple necklace. But sure enough, in the jewelry section at Wal-mart they had temple necklaces. Rhev was so proud of himself giving me that present. I can't express just how special that necklace is to me. I have worn it nearly everyday since then and even added the locket with the pictures of my sweet twins to it. It is such a special thing.
Kim also got me a kit and some beads to make some earrings. I would have never thought of something like that and it was so much fun making some really cute earring sets.

Once lunch was eaten and the cake was blown out, everyone left and I got ready for a doctors appointment. I scheduled the appointment on my birthday just so I knew I could get out of the house.  Tyce took me, we got to hear our little miss and that was another perfect present. Then I had to go and do a glucose test. Not exactly what I had in mind as a great thing to do on your birthday, but it had to be done. Once it was finally over, Tyce took me for Ice Cream (because I hadn't already had enough sugar) and got me back home. Later that night I had a surprise visit from my sweet Mother-in-law and Brielle. They came to visit and bring me a gift. They brought me the most gorgeous piano book with the most beautiful illustrations. It has lots of church/ primary songs. It's so pretty. I placed it on the piano and every day Rhev pick a new page/ picture to have it open to.
I really did have the best birthday ever!

A Trayvn Funny
I just had to share this Trayvn funny. One day when they boys were home for a bit, I was going through and organizing my bows. Trayvn came in and just kept grabbing them one at a time saying "Oh cute". After a while I thought it would be funny to put them on his head. I  thought for sure he would fight it and hate them. Instead, he loved it. Bow after bow, flower after flower; he loved every minute of it.

The Storm
One night last week the boys came home in the middle of a thunder and lightning storm. Instead of being terrified by the noise and the lights like I was as a child, both boys went straight to the window and watched every minute of it. When ever a noise went off, or lightning struck Trayvn would get all excited and yell out to the rest of us what had just happened. He's talking so much more and is such an expressive kid.

Throwing and kicking
Trayvn was blessed with quite the little throwing arm and he loves to use it. Last week when I went to visit them at Candy Grandma's, Trayvn found a ball and wanted to play catch. He would give me the ball, sit next to me, I would throw it, he would jump up and run to get it, throw it back to me and come sit back down. Time and time again he went after that ball. It was like a little dog learning how to sit and fetch. It was so funny. That is another reason why that little boys nic-name is Puppy.

Rhev had to have it picture taken too :)

The Christensen Reunion
The last thing I can remember on our July adventure was the Christensen Reunion. I was held in Chesterfield, a little area past Lava Hot Springs. We took the camper up and had a nice 3 day get away as a family. Tyce bought me a really nice reclining outdoor chair for me for my birthday so that I could be able to go and at least sit and feel like I was participating in the fun. The only problem  with the weekend was I forgot to take my camera and I didn't get any pictures.
The boys loved that we were camping. Rhev has been begging us all summer to go on a "real" camping trip. We had such a great time. The first day the family spent at Lava Hot Springs swimming. I got an awesome sunburn laying in the sun :) Rhev and Trayvn loved every minute in the water and Tyce was so patient and good with them. The next day we went to the chesterfield town site to go through all the old buildings and learn about the history there. 2 years ago our stake was there for our stake trek, but in just 2 years time they had already done so many improvements on a lot of buildings. The kids favorite place to go was still the mercantile shop. Rhev bought himself a wooden sling shot. He said it was just like the one in his favorite game Angry birds. After the tour, Annis rented 2 hand carts and the family all went on a little trek up to where our lunches were. Stephanie, Great- Grandma and I got to cheat however and ride on the 4 wheeler. Rhev and Trayvn, some of the other kids rode in the hand carts. It was a good experience. I was SUPER hot. My sunburn got way worse. It really did help me to gain a better perspective on what our pioneer ancestors had to go through. I can't imagine day in and day out of walking in that much heat with hardly any water or food.
On the last day all of the family had a relay race. Everyone was split up into teams and had to do all sorts of crazy stuff. It was quite the show for me and Great- Grandma sit and watch. When it was all said and done, there was a tie so they thought it would be funny to have a canoe race. We went over to the reservoir and watched as each team struggled to paddle to the other side and back. It was quite the show.
After the canoe race, everyone packed up and headed home. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty sad to be going back to reality. It felt so nice to be around people. To have my boys close to me and to have Tyce not having to work. It was such a nice break from the crazy life we've been living.

As you can tell life is still going on around us. Everyday brings new things, new challenges and new adventures. Grain harvest has been going on and proving that the harvesting season is upon us. The time of the harvest widow has started, but I am so grateful to know that there is an end. Everyday Tyce brings up how as soon as October gets here, life will finally be back to normal. No more pipe, harvest will be finished, Little Miss will have arrived, our boys will be home with us and things will be so close to being back to normal. I pray we can make it through these next 2 months.
