Why I love my Daddy

Fathers Day is coming up so I've been thinking alot about my Daddy.

My Dad is one of a kind. I have never known a man who works harder, loves his family more, takes care of things, and recycles all the things around him. It is truly amazing just how smart and resourceful this man is. He always says that as a child he never had very much and he just learned to work with what you have and take care of what you've got. One of my very favorite past times is listening to my Dad tell stories about his childhood and all the crazy things he did as a kid. I think that He and my uncles were quite the adventurous group of boys. The lessons he learned on being savoy has stuck with him through the years. All the time he has come up with some inventive way of fixing things. He is my number 1 fix it man. I know without a shadow of a doubt that if something breaks, my Daddy can fix it and can return it in way better condition then it was new. His talents are outstanding. I've always wished I had his skill of seeing something for it's potential. He treats people the same way too. He's always helping and serving even when his health says otherwise. He just can't say no to people and let others down. He has always been a good example for me. I love being his baby girl.

I also love the relationship that my husband and my Dad have together. Dad treats Tyce like his own son and Tyce treats my Dad like he does his own Dad. They have such a strong relationship together. Both love to work and fix things and I think it really has helped them have their close bond. Tyce also has a way of making my Dad laugh. Tyce all the time is coming up with ways to tease my Dad. NOBODY gets away with teasing my Dad like Tyce does. They just "get" each other and Dad doesn't mind it. He just laughs. Some of Tyce's favorite things to tease my Dad about is how well he fixes and takes care of things. My Daddy goes above and beyond. He will spend a whole day gluing a fixing a part, just so he won't have to buy a new one. Tyce on the other hand believes if it doesn't work after you've kicked it and cussed at it, then it's time to buy a new part. My Dad also has a paper towel, a rubber band and a baggy around everything. For example. One night something had gone wrong on someones vehicle at my parents house. Tyce and Dad needed a flashlight to go fix the problem. Dad told Tyce there was one in the glove box of his car, so Tyce went and got it. At first Tyce couldn't see it, but Dad insisted it was there, so he went to help him. Sure enough the flashlight was there, but it was wrapped a bunch of times in paper towels and then placed in a baggy with rubber bands around the baggy. Tyce laughed for hours. With a smile on his face, Dad's only explanation was he didn't want it to get wet. So after that, for Dad's birthday one year Tyce insisted we buy a a bunch of paper towels, baggies and rubber bands for him. Dad though it was the greatest gift ever and just laughed. It makes me so happy to have these wonderful memories of my Daddy and my Husband together. Not many people get to have the relationship with their In-laws like Tyce and I do.

Here is another resourceful thing I caught my Dad with. The ear piece on his glasses broke and the new one wouldn't be here for a while. So my Dad had to fix it. Anyone else would have just taped it and moved along, but not my Dad. "That would look dorky" he told me. So instead of having tape showing, he meticulously wrapped his glasses with dental floss.  Yep dental floss. I knew Tyce would appreciate this so I took a picture and sent it to him on his phone. Sure enough it made Tyce smile and now he has a new idea for his Fathers Day gift.
I had to share this because I want the memories of my Daddy to be there forever.  He is my hero and has been since I was a child. I look up to him so much. He is such a good person to everyone. He takes such good of his family. He works harder then any man I know. I am so excited for the day when he can retire and finally start living his life for himself and not for his job. He has most definitely earned that right after all these years. I'm so excited for the many more moments of fun and laughter that he and my husband can share as well as the rest of my family. I don't know how I was so lucky to be able to have him as an earthly Father, but I am grateful everyday. I don't know what I would do without my Daddy. I love being his little "Kakey". He always knows how to make me happy and feel special.

I'm grateful that he is the grandpa to my children. My boys absolutely adore Grandpa play time or watching shows with Grandpa.  Scooby Doo is so much better at Grandma's house because Grandpa watches it with them. That man can do no wrong in their eyes. I love him for that. He is such a good example for them. If they can grow up to be half the man that he is, then they will be great men.

I love my Daddy more then any girl has loved a Dad!
