8 Years Together

Monday was our 8 year anniversary. What a wonderful 8 years it's been. We have gotten to experience so many things, good and bad, together. I honestly love my Tyce more now then I ever could have imagined. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful marriage. He is my best friend and I am his. We are each others rocks and number one supports. I just can't believe I was the girl he choose to marry. I am the luckiest girl to have such a wonderful and amazing husband as an eternal companion.

Due to the circumstances this year, I kind of just figured we would put off any anniversary date or something. We had a very busy day on Sunday and I needed a day of total rest. Still I had hoped something fun could happen. Around 11:00 I got a phone call from Tyce asking me on a date at 7:00. He said it would just be simple. Dinner in town and home back to bed. I was definitely game for that. I felt like a teenager again. I spent all day thinking about what I was going to wear, how I was going to do my hair and wondering what other things he had planned.

7:00 came and I was still getting ready, just like a real date :) 7:15 I was ready and we went out to the car. He opened doors for me and everything. When I got into the Yukon I found this note on the dash.
Tyce informed me that throughout dinner I would be getting and finding notes like this everywhere. My job was to figure out what each clue meant and then I got one guess. If I got it right then I could look on the back and see what prize I had won. Every clue had something to do with things that have happened or things that we have experienced in our marriage that were important to Tyce. They were all things that happened just the 2 of us. The whole night we spent going down memory lane, talking about all our experiences over the last 8 years. It was the best date I have ever been on. He was so cleaver with the clues. He really took a lot of time coming up with creative, tricky clues.

#1- 6172005- that one was easy. It was our wedding day.

#2- Hillbilly- (prize- back massage) Before we got married, Tyce and I went on a road trip with his parents and sisters to Seattle to to pick up some buckets for the Trek his mom was in charge of. It was a really long drive so entertainment was scarce. His Mom brought some Ho-Ho's and powdered doughnuts. I decided to impress the family by putting powder on my nose and chocolate on my teeth to make it look like they were missing. They laughed for hours. It was one of the first times I felt like I could really let loose and show them what I am really like.

#3-Enema- (prize- foot massage) Let's just say I had some issues on our Honeymoon that resulted in something that no husband should have to do a week into marriage. It's really funny to think of it now :)

#4- High Humidity- (prize- Date Night) Before Tyce and I had kids we liked to go "Manly Camping". We would get the horses packed and ride into the mountains where nobody could find us and spend a week camping. We like to fish while we camp and on this particular trip the two of us ended up getting our socks wet. For heat at night we would warm up a rock in the fire and then place it in our sleeping bags. Well for some reason that night we thought it would be a good idea to kill two birds with one stone. We wrapped our wet socks around the rocks before placing them in our beds because we thought they would dry while we slept. I don't know what we were thinking. Most normal people know that Heat and Water make humidity. It was the longest night the two of us have ever experienced. By morning Tyce and I were completely soaked and extremely tired. We FROZE all night long because of being so wet. Lesson was learned. We never did that again.

#5- Sierra Madre- (prize- Scrapbook party) I was really impressed with this clue. He had to do his homework on this one. Sierra Madre is the mountain range in Mexico. We went zip-lining through the jungle there when we went on our Mexican cruise. Thanks to google, I figured that question out :)

#6-Stratus- (prize- any food I want) This was the name of the rental car we got in Hawaii on our honeymoon. You may think that is silly to remember that, but if you would have seen this car, you couldn't forget it either. Tyce and I were both under age to get a normal rental car so this was the only car we could get. It was the biggest piece of crap car. It made a funny noise as we drove, but it never died on us. I had a huge hole in the floor, it smelled like fish, and looked like they pulled it out of the ocean. Still that car gave us so many memories driving around the island of Maui. We will never forget it.

#7- Ron Sayer (Prize- flowers) This was the dealership we were at before my tubal pregnancy burst and I almost lost my life. We had been there for hours helping my friend Colby decide on a pickup to buy.  It was was past closing and when he had finally finished he committed to buying us dinner. As we drove over to the sizzler by the hospital, my tube burst. I had only minutes to get to the hospital and have the bleeding stopped. It was such a miracle that day to be  held up so long at Ron Sayer Dodge because it meant we were late to dinner and closer to a hospital  then we would have been if we had been home. I think that night really made Tyce and I realize how fragile life really is and how easily it can be taken away. I was feeling completely fine at the dealership and within minutes and no accident, my life was in the hands of others. I will always be grateful for Colby taking forever at Ron Sayer:)

#8- 113- (prize- $100 shopping money) That is an exit number.

As you can see it was a fun night down memory lane. I will never forget that night we had together. Tyce knows just the right ways to make me feel special and important and for that I am truly grateful!!!
